4 Foods That Save Your Memory

Have you been forgetting where you left your keys, or what item you drove to the grocery store for? It is unfortunate, but your memory erodes as you age. We have listed some foods that will boost your brain power and help save your memory. Read on to find out what foods you need to incorporate into your diet for optimal brain power!

1

Whole Eggs

Don’t skip the yolk! Yolks are rich in choline, a nutrient in the vitamin B family. A recent study found that people who have a diet rich in choline scored higher on verbal and visual memory
tests and are less likely to show signs associated with dementia.

Extra choline can also aid in constructing our “memory”
neurotransmitter called acetylcholine. Try incorporating a whole
egg into your breakfasts, but eat them in moderation as they
contain dietary cholesterol.

2

Beets

Research shows natural nitrates in beets can improve your focus and concentration. As we age, decreased blood flow can contribute to our cognitive decline, but research shows that the nitrates can help dilate your blood vessels and improve blood flow throughout the body – including your brain, thereby improving its function!

3

Shrimp

This seafood favorite has high levels of vitamin B12, which has been shown to prevent memory decline and is crucial for healthy nerves and brain cells. Together with folate and vitamin B6, vitamin B12, too, helps eliminate homocysteine. Shrimp are also rich in omega 3 fatty acids, which have been shown to improve your memory function as you age.

4

Rosemary

Just the smell of rosemary can enhance overall memory, according to a recent study. The amount of one of the main chemicals in rosemary oil, called 1,8-cineole, can be linked to brain performance.

The more 1,8-cineole study participants absorbed into their
bloodstream, the better their performance on speed and accuracy tests. Keep a plant on your windowsill or add a rosemary-oil diffuser to your room.
